NO HOUR REDUCTIONS FOR NEW FINANCE CHAIR HEAD
Friday, April 18th, 2008 -- 1:55 PM
Clark County's new Finance Committee Chair doesn't support cutting employees' hours to fix a looming budget hole.Charles Harwick, Hatfield, supports implementing a half-percent sales tax to fix the $1.5-million budget deficit.
Last year, the committee floated a proposal to cut the 40-hour workweek by an hour and fifteen minutes. Harwick says the idea isn't fair to employees.
"I think you have to have a high opinion of employees," Harwick states, "I have a very high opinion of most of the employees that work for Clark County."
A plan that would have reduced employees' hours was defeated on an 8-19 vote during the county budget hearing in November.
