COUNTY BOARD SWORN IN

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 -- 11:53 AM

Clark County Circuit Court Judge Jon Counsell swore in the new-look Board of Supervisors Tuesday morning at the Courthouse in Neillsville.

There were plenty of new faces in the room: 8 of the 27 (30%) supervisors weren't on the board before the April 1 elections.

The board also elected a Chairman and Vice Chairman.

Previous Chair Wayne Hendrickson defeated Town of Sherman supervisor Phil Boehning 17-12. Before the vote, Hendrickson addressed a "rumor" that he planned to re-institute the Department of Administration.

"The last couple days, there was a rumor floating around here that if I was elected Chairman, I was going to bring the Department of Administration back," Hendrickson said, "That's false. I don't know who said that. It's not even on the radar screen."

In the race for Vice Chair, Owen-area supervisors Carl Kallberg defeated Granton-area supervisor Fritz Garbisch 18-11.

The board took a brief break before starting to fill the four elected committees: Finance, Ag & Extension, Social Services and Highway.
