Marshfield School Board Hears Facility Improvement Planning Update
Thursday, February 15th, 2024 -- 11:01 AM
The Marshfield School Board heard a facility improvement planning update.
In this process, they took the time to ask some of the students what issues they face at the school. There were a handful of students at the meeting to discuss the items, which include inadequate HVAC, old furniture, noise, undersized spaces, outdated bathrooms, and the District not being inviting.
The Board also approved the 2024-2025 CESA 10 Contract and they approved a corrected proposed budget amendment to the Instruction Expenditures Appropriation, which had an incorrect amount that was $3 million more than the actual amount.
The Board also approved a budget amendment that was broken down into three parts. Part one of the budget amendment involves an increase of $149,469 in revenue in the form of Common School Funds (CSF) from the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands (BCPL) with offsetting expenditures to match.
School districts receive funding from the BCPL from the annual interest in their $1.4 billion Trust Fund. Part two involves an increase of revenue with matching expenditures in the amount of $17,036.44.
The IT Department has sold various used network electronics, damaged laptops for parts, obsolete monitors, and used wireless access points among other items. Sales took place via Ebay and Wisconsin Surplus Auctions.
The increase in revenue will be returned to the IT budget to supplement the purchase of additional network electronic components. Part three involves changes to the budget for our CTE Incentive grant to better align with actual projected expenditures.
Two line-items noted here are a reduction in payment to the Pathway Partners Director ($7,000) and a reduction in purchased services for Tech Ed ($222) which will help supplement equipment purchases for the CTE department ($7,222).
The Board also heard the first reading, so no further action was taken, of the professional staff handbook and administrative staff handbook. The Board also reviewed the Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan.
This is a requirement of the ESSER funds received by Districts and must be done every six months. The Board also approved the Pupil Non-Discrimination Report, approved a student trip to Sheboygan for the Forensic Accounting Competition in March of 2024, and approved a student trip to Madison for the State Finance Bowl Championship in May 2024.
The Board also approved the retirements, resignations, and new personnel. Finally, the Board approved donations of, for Madison Elementary, clothing, hats, and mittens valued at $30 from Immanuel Lutheran in Hewitt.
For Lincoln Elementary, 41, $5 fun zone arcade cards valued at $205 from Pizza Ranch, classroom snacks valued at $75 from Cornerstone Community Church, 200 free kid’s meal bookmarks valued at $1,300 from Texas Roadhouse, and $2,000 for AP testing fees from the Blanchard AP Scholarship Fund.
They also approved $196.60 for the Tiny Tiger Human Services Academy through Forward Bank Charitable Money Market Accounts. (Amount is based on a percentage of earnings from Forward Bank Customers who select the Tiny Tiger Human Services Academy as the preferred charity.)
And $19,291.55 for the Angel Fund through Forward Bank Charitable Money Market Accounts. (Amount is based on a percentage of earnings from Forward Bank Customers who select the Unified School District of Marshfield as the preferred charity.)
