CLARK COUNTY DISCUSSES RAISES FOR OFFICERS

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 -- 11:54 AM

3-2-2-2.

No, it's not the last four digits of a phone number, They're the raises some elected Clark County officials might get over the next four years.

The Clark County Treasurer, Register of Deeds and County Clerk positions will be up for election in the fall. Their next terms will be four years long, an increase from the current two-year terms.

On Monday, the County Executive Committee recommended whoever wins the election receive 3-percent more than the current salary in the first year and two-percent more each year for the final three years.

The committee said the raises likely won't cover the cost of inflation, but had little doubt a straight three-percent raise would be defeated by a County Board faced with a tight budget.

The salary increases needs full board approval.
