Colby-Abby Police Department Police Chief Retires; Department Welcomes New Chief

A chapter in the Colby-Abby Police Department history ended this week.

Police Chief Jason Bauer's official retirement has arrived. Chief Bauer began his career with CAPD in 1996 as a patrol officer; he became Police Chief in 2015. Chief Bauer has made a positive impact on the police department and the community during his time.

His contributions are numerous and will be here for years to come. They appreciate his leadership, guidance, friendship and humor over the years. They thank him for his service to the communities.

They also officially welcomed their new Police Chief Alex Bowman. Chief Bowman joined CAPD in 2016 as a Patrol Officer and was promoted to Lieutenant in 2020.  With Chief Bowman’s experience at CAPD and his service in the Marines, he has proven leadership and communication skills that will assist in his smooth transition into his new role as Chief.

He has the support from his law enforcement colleagues and the communities as he takes on this new challenge. They have confidence that he will be an effective and successful Chief. They look forward to having Chief Bowman here for many years to come.
