Wausau Police Benefit Association Holds Awards Banquet

The Wausau Police Benefit Association hosted its combined holiday party and awards banquet this past Saturday.

This event, generously supported by premier sponsor Wausau Smiles Dental, provided the opportunity to recognize some of the outstanding staff they have working at the Wausau Police Department.

The pinnacle of the award program came at the end of the evening, when the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award was presented to Officer Houa Lee. Officer Lee joined the department in 2008 and has been serving in the patrol bureau ever since.

He was among the department's first group of officers  to receive training in Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) programs, which equips officers with tools designed to help individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. 

Officer Lee's calm demeanor and willingness to help others is a benefit not only to the citizens he serves, but to his teammates as well. Always willing to put in extra effort without complaint, Officer Lee is an outstanding example for all of them.

A past recipient of the Back-up Officer Award, Officer Lee repeatedly demonstrates his commitment to others. Congratulations to Officer Lee, along with all the other award recipients from Saturday evening's event.
