Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 -- 10:03 AM
The Wisconsin Supreme Court has suspended the law license of a former Neillsville attorney for using her clients trust accounts to fund a failed business venture.According to the Clark County Press, Linda Smith was found guilty of 17 counts of misconduct in connection with her operation of the Moonlight Supper Club north of Neillsville.
She and a partner purchased the restaurant in 2002 and operated it from February to March of that year. Smith allegedly used money from her clients' trust accounts to finance the operation.
Smith claims her problems began in 2001 when she was struck by lightning. The resulting health issues forced her to close her practice in 2003.
The Court ordered a two-year suspension of Smith's license.
