Tomah High School Student and Scout Working on Leadership Project
Tuesday, January 30th, 2024 -- 10:00 AM
Tomah High School student Aiden Santiago created a leadership project that fills an often-overlooked need in the community.
Aiden is a Senior at THS and is also an active Scout in Tomah’s Troop 5. He is currently working on earning the ranking of Eagle Scout. To do so, he must complete a leadership project. For his project, Aiden has chosen to organize a food drive, but not like ones you are used to seeing.
He has set out to collect cake mixes, frosting, candles, disposable cake pans, party hats, and favors. Collection boxes have been set up in all the schools, as well as the district office, if you are interested in helping Aiden achieve his goal. Donations can be made until February 2nd.
Once the collection drive is over, the items will then be assembled by volunteers from the THS Honor Society, into Birthday Kits for the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Food pantry. Food pantries distribute all kinds of foods to those in need, and often have holiday meal kits for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
However, when we put together donations for food pantries in our communities, we most likely don't think about including items to help families celebrate birthdays.
