Wausau School District Announces Deal with Wisconsin Association of School Board to Help Find Next Superintendent

Tuesday, January 30th, 2024 -- 9:00 AM

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) The Wausau School District has announced a deal with the Wisconsin Association of School Boards to help find their next Superintendent.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, that's according to a news release from the district, which stated the process will include community input surveys that will help the Board of Education prioritize what skills and characteristics they should look for in a candidate.

The survey is available on the district’s website and will be open through February 8th. Residents can also fill out a paper copy by contacting the district office. The search is expected to take three months.

If all goes as planned the new Superintendent would begin their duties on July 1st. Keith Hilts announced he would retire from the position back in December. His last day will be June 30th.
