Wisconsin Rapids Police Department Warns of Bitcoin Scams
Friday, January 26th, 2024 -- 11:01 AM
The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department has seen a recent increase in Bitcoin Scams.
Often these scams include convincing the victim their accounts have been compromised and they need to transfer funds into a Bitcoin Machine often located at a local Gas Station.
They want to remind everyone that if any type of Bank, Government Agency or Business is requesting that you pay them in Bitcoin to second guess the transaction and contact Law Enforcement.
If in doubt contact your bank using publicly available phone numbers or in person, scammers often try to provide fraudulent phone numbers that are only connected to their operations. Again, when in doubt contact Law Enforcement or your local bank.
