HAVE YOU HEARD? CLARK CO. LEADS IN HERDS

Friday, March 28th, 2008 -- 11:12 AM

You like cows? You've come to the right place.

Clark County still has the most dairy herds in the state with 1,006, according to new stats from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture. As of the first week of March, there were 13,918 herds milking in Wisconsin--about 45 less than January's figure.

Compared to last year at this time, about 395 herds either sold out or merged with other operations.

The department says about 85-percent of all herds in the Dairy State are registered as Grade A operations.
