U.S. Supreme Court Decides Not to Review Court Appeal by Former Neillsville Police Officer Against Police Chief

The U.S. Supreme Court has decided not to review a court appeal by a former Neillsville Police Officer against Neillsville’s Police Chief.
The representative of Neillsville Police Chief Jim Mankowski released the following statement: “On January 8, 2024, the United States Supreme Court announced that it would not review the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals win by Chief Mankowski over former NPD officer Patrick Fehlman’s claims filed in 2021 in Wisconsin federal district court."
"After Fehlman was passed over for the chief position and quit the department in 2020, he made failed and baseless claims against Chief Mankowski in the Neillsville Police and Fire Commission."
"Then Fehlman took his grudge to federal district court where, after two tries to plead his claims, his complaint was dismissed by the judge who found that even Fehlman’s version of the facts (the truth of which was never determined, but rather assumed as a legal fiction for purposes of the motion) did not support any claims against Chief Mankowski.”
“To be clear: the chief disputed all of Fehlman’s allegations of wrongdoing, but Fehlman’s claims were so baseless that the case never got that far before being thrown out by the district court judge, and then the panel of appellate judges. Now, the U.S. Supreme Court has rejected Fehlman’s request to review the case as well.”
