CITY ACCEPTS HOCKEY ASSOCIATION BUILDING
Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 -- 11:32 AM
A successful year for the Neillsville Hockey Association culminated last night with a couple events. As the Association was holding their end-of-season banquet, the Neillsville City Council accepted their donation of a new 1,750-square foot building, constructed by Tesmer Construction, which will serve a number of purposes at the new ice rink.
The building has handicapped restrooms, room to park the Association's zamboni and lockerrooms.
The $85,000 building was the result of years of fundraising and generous donations, according to NHA president Jane Emling.
She says it is "phase 1" of a process she hopes will lead to an indoor facility in the next year or two.
Between 30 and 40 kids participated in youth hockey and "learn to skate" classes this winter.
The new rink is located on the lot formerly occupied by the Neillsville Foundry.
