On Friday the Wood County Communication Center received a report of a UTV pulling into a persons yard twice in the Township of Wood. The operator of the UTV advised that he was trying to get to Granton and appeared intoxicated.
Wood County Deputies located the UTV operating illegally on State Highway 80 in the Township of Wood. Wood County Sheriff Deputies attempted to stop the UTV but the UTV did not stop and led deputies on a pursuit.
The operator of the UTV, Kyle V. Wendt of Marshfield, eventually entered into a field and turned off the machine. Deputies began to approach the UTV on foot. While doing so the operator took off and turned in the direction of a deputy in what appeared to be an attempt to strike them with the UTV.
The UTV fled the area. Deputies followed tracks in the snow and were able to locate the UTV and evenutally take the operator into custody without further incident.
Wendt has been charged with Operating a UTV while intoxicated 2nd offense within 5 years, first degree recklessly endangering safety and resisting an officer. He was transported to the Wood County Jail.
