Marshfield School Board Approves Budget Amendment, Event Worker Pay, and More
Thursday, January 11th, 2024 -- 9:01 AM
The Marshfield School Board approved some proposed budget amendments at their meeting on Wednesday.
The amendment approved is grant money already in the District’s budget. It is simply being moved from instruction to support services due to a change in what that grant money can be used for. The amount is $160,228.
The Board also approved an increase in event worker pay. The hope is this will entice more people to sign up to work events as it’s getting more and more difficult for schools to find people to work.
For athletic events, depending on the job, workers receive $10, $12, or $15 per hour. That has now been increased to $15, $18, or $20 per hour. Chaperones, depending on the job, receive $12 or $15 per hour. Now they will receive $18 or $20 per hour. Finally, student lifeguards will see their pay increase from $12 per hour to $15 per hour.
The Board also approved the designation of space for open enrollment. All Districts are required to do this each year. The Board also approved the administrator contract renewals and both the Girls and Boys Hockey Co-op Agreements for 2024-25 and 2025-26. The Board also approved some retirements and resignations.
Finally, the Board approved several donations including:
- $200 from First State Bank for student needs;
- $800 from Reis’ Martial Arts Academy, Inc for the Food Service Angel Fund for Grant, Lincoln, Madison, and Nasonville;
- To Nasonville Elementary a gift basket valued at $25 from Reis Martial Arts Academy;
- To Washington Elementary $200 from the PTO for 6th grade track day;
- And self-care items and clothing for students valued at $200 from Reis Martial Arts Academy;
- For Lincoln Elementary $200 for student needs;
- And items for the school store valued at $200 from Adam & Sarah Bissonnette;
- And for the High School $200 for AP testing fees.
