Neillsville Fire Department Participates in Live Burn Training
Wednesday, January 10th, 2024 -- 11:00 AM
On December 9th, the Neillsville Fire Department had the opportunity to do a live burn training at the Kevin and Jenny Erickson property.
Live burns give the Department a unique chance to watch the fire in all of its stages; from the initial ignition all the way through to the final burnout. This training allows firefighters to see how fire reacts to different applications of water, how venting can affect the fire growth, and to become more familiar and comfortable going inside a house that is on fire.
Opportunities like this do not happen often for the department and they are very grateful that Kevin and Jenny allowed them to hold this training. They are also very thankful to the Neillsville Ambulance Service, Granton Fire Department, and Greenwood Fire Department for providing additional resources and manpower to make the day happen; it's nice to have such great working relationships with surrounding departments.
They also would like to thank Devon at Rayce Digital for bringing his drone out to capture some aerial videos and pictures. You can see those pictures and video on the Neillsville Fire Department's Facebook page. You can also see the video on our Facebook page.
