Man Arrested After Displaying Firearm and Fleeing Police

(Sam Walters, WSAU & WAOW) A man was arrested Saturday morning after displaying a firearm and fleeing police.

According to a press release from the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, around 7:58 A.M. 29-year-old, Dane A. Bieniek allegedly displayed a firearm at another driver.

When officers attempted a traffic stop, Bieniek drove off, and later crashed the vehicle into a residence and began to run away on foot. Officers were able to apprehend the suspect and recover the firearm. This led to Bieniek’s arrest Saturday morning while out on parole for a felony charge of vehicle operator flee/elude officer.

Bieniek was booked into Wood County Jail, on seven charges, including: first-degree recklessly endangering safety-repeater, second-degree recklessly endangering safety-repeater, vehicle operator flee/elude officer-repeater, possess firearm-convicted of a felony, resisting an officer, operating while revoked, and failure to install ignition interlock device.
