Marshfield Clinic Warns of Rising Cases of COVID, Flu, and RSV
Friday, January 5th, 2024 -- 12:01 PM
Cases of respiratory illnesses (COVID-19, influenza and respiratory syncytial virus) are rising across the nation, including throughout counties in Wisconsin.
Marshfield Clinic Health System is noting an increase in inpatient cases across our hospitals. Right now in Wisconsin, there is a roughly 15% positivity rate for COVID-19, influenza and RSV. This includes rates for people who test positive for more than one respiratory illness (such as co-infections of influenza and COVID-19, and RSV and COVID-19).
Across the nation, 20 pediatric deaths have been reported due to influenza since September 3, including 6 in the week of December 17. Two pediatric RSV deaths have been reported in Wisconsin.
You can help protect against respiratory illness this season. One simple way is to ensure you are up-to-date with available immunizations. Talk to your provider or your child’s provider for what immunizations are available to you.
