Former Weston Daycare Worker Sentenced for Sexually Assaulting Children at the Facility

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A former Weston daycare worker will serve prison time for sexually assaulting children at the facility.
Accordin to Mike Leischner with WSAU, Judge Michael Moran sentenced Shawn Wilde to 10 years in prison followed by 28 years on extended supervision and probation.
Conditions of his extended supervision include no contact with the victims, no access to the internet through any electronic device, and the completion of all court-appointed sex offender treatment programs.
Wilde will also be required to maintain his address on the state sex offender registry for the rest of his life. The 24-year-old allegedly lived in the basement of a home daycare center in Weston where the assault happened.
That’s where a 10-year-old girl told her parents that Wilde touched her during a game he created. Subsequent investigations discovered that the “game” involved covering the victim with a blanket and then touching them in front of a camera.
Court records show two victim impact statements were read during Wednesday’s sentencing. Wilde also addressed the court before the decision was handed down. The sentence was part of a plea deal that was struck last fall.
Wilde had been facing nearly two dozen counts from the incidents. The deal saw him plead no contest to six counts with the judge then finding him guilty and dismissing the remaining counts.
His ten-year prison term includes 18 years on extended supervision and covers one count of sexual contact or intercourse with a person under the age of 13. Other counts included shorter prison terms that will run concurrently, or at the same time, as the longer sentence.
A ten-year probation sentence will cover another count of sexual contact or intercourse with a person under the age of 13, meaning it will begin after the first extended supervision period ends. Wilde was given credit for 14.5 months already served in jail while awaiting trial.
