Loyal School Board News

Wednesday, December 27th, 2023 -- 9:11 AM

Last Wednesday, the Loyal School Board held their December meeting.  The meeting started off with public comments regarding the HRS survey results, the collaboration/consolidation talks with Greenwood, and transparency with the community.

Amy Humke presented her role as the district’s Instructional Coach and how this position benefits our school district.  Thank you, Amy, for this informative presentation.

The first item of business was the approval of an National Honor Society out of state field trip to Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg, Florida at the beginning of June.

At last month’s meeting, the board received the district’s state report card from the last three years.  The district and school ratings were as follows:

Elementary School = 63/100 Meets Expectations

Middle School = 64.8/100 Meets Expectations

High School = 56.6/100 Meets Few Expectations

District = 61.3/100 Meets Expectations

Principle Doug Dieckman updated the board on the course description book for high school with no new classes being offered next year, but some small changes to the wording on a couple of classes. He also told the board that Loyal and Greenwood have met and looked at each other’s schedule to see how we can work together on offerings.  The board accepted the resignation due to retirement from the district’s Guidance Counselor, Becky Scherer at the conclusion of the 2023-24 school year.   The board also approved doing a “Community Survey” with the finalization of the survey questions coming at the January 10th Joint Board Retreat.
