Owen-Withee School District Investigating Incident After Drug Search and Possible Threat
Friday, December 22nd, 2023 -- 3:00 PM
The Owen-Withee School District is continuing an investigation after a non-emergency lockdown involving a drug search and possible threat.
The District was closed on Thursday after a non-emergency lockdown on Wednesday. According to a statement from Owen-Withee Superintendent Scott Winch, “On Wednesday the school district had a nonemergency lockdown to allow for the drug dogs to come through the building and search lockers and backpacks."
"We did get a couple of hits but upon further search we didn’t find anything. However, one of the results of the day was some students being suspended for their behavior, which included making a specific threat to a staff member, during and after the search.”
“This did carry over to the bus ride home and a student thinking they heard a comment about a potential threat to the school. The police department investigated into the night and we are confident there is no threat to the school or anyone at the school.”
