Wausau Man Arrested for Armed Burglary

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) An 18-year-old Wausau man is facing two counts of armed burglary after a man reported a break-in at his east side home last June.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, police say a man reported hearing a rustling from the kitchen of his home. When he went to see what was happening, he was confronted by two masked men. The victim says one of the men pointed a gun at him and made a threat, then beat him with the gun.

Officers believe the intruders came into the home through a basement window. The man’s nephew was also hurt in the incident. Both victims were taken to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries. T’Eliq Whitelow was immediately named as a suspect and an arrest warrant was issued for him on June 8th.

He was taken into custody in Milwaukee County this week and is now in the Marathon County jail on a $100,000 bond. The second suspect was not named. Should Whitelow post the cash he would not be allowed to have contact with the suspects and must maintain absolute sobriety.

The case is set for a review hearing on December 27th and a preliminary hearing on February 26th. If Whitelow is found guilty at trial he faces up to 30 years in prison and $100,000 in fines.
