Neillsville School Board Approves Auditorium Floor Bid and More

The Neillsville School Board approved a bid for the auditorium floor at their meeting on Monday.

The Board approved a bid from Baseman Bros. for auditorium flooring in an amount not to exceed $138,168. The Board also approved to participate in the Safe Routes to School Grant for an amount not to exceed $1,200.

The Board approved the purchase of a new snow plow from Darrel’s Auto Repair in the amount of $9,667 and approved a monetary donation in the amount of $2,000 from Atmus Filtration Technologies for advertising on the varsity football field scoreboard as presented. The Board also approved the donation of books from the county Homemakers Club and the donation of cookbooks and school supplies from Natalie Guzman.

In employment matters, the Board approved the resignations, as presented, of Blake Krause from his custodian position and Amy Arndt from her middle school student council advisor position.

The Board also approved the hirings, as presented, of Paul Luedtke for a custodian position, Amanda Waltemate for a food service position, Brianna Roehl for the middle school softball coaching position, Alycia Zickert for the middle school softball coaching position, and Kimberly Rakovec for the middle school student council advisor position. The Board also approved the Memorandum of Understanding for Jill Neville with modifications as presented.

The Board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on:

  • Fastbridge screenings;
  • Field trips;
  • Veteran project;
  • And winter concerts.

Middle School Principal Kory Poeschel reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • Character trait of the month;
  • Concerts;
  • Student testing;
  • Middle school sports;
  • FFA;
  • Middle school dance;
  • FOR Club updates;
  • Student holiday readings on WCCN;
  • And the annual Give and Take Tree.

High School Principal Craig Anderson reported on:

  • Attendance;
  • High school music updates;
  • Schuster Park holiday light project;
  • Educators Rising event;
  • Trunk junk clean out;
  • And scheduling for the 2024-2025 school year.

District Administrator John Gaier reported on:

  • Give and Take Tree article;
  • Budget information;
  • Investment options and market outlook;
  • Last week’s budget action sessions;
  • Voucher lawsuit article;
  • Article on voucher schools from Marshfield News Herald;
  • And the 2024 Wisconsin State Education Convention.

Mr. Gaier also presented the audit report. Lance Gregorich from CESA 10, and Building and Grounds Director Mark Spencer, presented a building projects update. Finally, the WASB report was given by Mr. Gaier and the CESA report was given by Board Member Deanna Heiman.
