Monday, December 18th, 2023 -- 1:00 PM
The Granton School District heard the Spotlight on Education at their meeting last week.
The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program was the spotlight on education. Principal Amanda Kraus showed some pictures of the different fruits and vegetables students have been trying.
The Board also heard the Students of the Month. Students of the Month are:
- Gibeon Thomas for the Elementary;
- Sophia Nickel for Middle School;
- And Alyssa Janikowski for the High School.
Staff Person of the Month is Mr. Steven Johansen. The Board also heard the Student Council Representative’s remarks including:

- Band and Choir conference coming up on Dec.18th;
- And Christmas activities for MS/HS on Dec. 22nd.
During the Community Input portion of the meeting, a community member commented about her recent experience attending a hockey game. She felt the hockey game was not well attended by Granton fans.
She also felt that the students should be reimbursed for their travel to and from practice if the school was not providing transportation. It was also suggested that maybe a bus for fans to attend a hockey game would be a good idea to get community members there and they don’t have to drive so far.
The Board also approved the band and choir field trip to Minnesota to see the Lion King and they discussed the 2024-2025 School Calendar, but no action was taken. The Board also approved the resolution, as presented, to waive the September 1 school start date for the 2024-25 school year and have school start on August 26, 2024.
