City of Marshfield Mailing Out Real Estate and Personal Property Tax Bills

The City of Marshfield Finance Department is mailing out real estate and personal property tax bills to 8,291 property owners in Marshfield this week.
Keep an eye on your mailbox and pay by January 31, 2024 to avoid accruing interest and penalties. Property owners may pay their real estate taxes in two equal installments.
If the property owner chooses a two-payment method, the first payment must be made by January 31, and the second payment must be made to the applicable county treasurer between February 1 and July 31, 2024, to avoid a penalty.
The penalty for not paying taxes on time is 1% per month for Wood County and 1.5% for Marathon County. A property tax bill comprises four taxing jurisdictions:
- City,
- Unified School District of Marshfield,
- Mid-State Technical College,
- And County.
Each jurisdiction submits its certified levy to the City, conveniently consolidated into one tax bill, and the City mails the bills to property owners. The City collects payments for the first installment, and the County collects payments for the second installment.
Tax payments can be made by using one of the methods below:
Pay at City Hall:
- Use our secure drop box located at the front doors of City Hall. Or pay in person Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, and Friday, 7:30 AM until noon.
Pay by U.S. Mail:
- Make your check payable to the City of Marshfield, enclose the payment stub, and mail it to 207 W. 6th Street, Marshfield, WI. Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope if you would like a receipt.
Pay Online:
- Use the following link https://client.pointandpay.net/web/CityOfMarshfieldWI) to pay via credit card (2.39% fee) or e-check ($1.50 fee).
Pay at Forward Bank:
- Located at 1001 N. Central Avenue Street in Marshfield. You must have the tax payment stub included with the payment.
