(Thomas Schumacher, WSAU) The Wausau Zion Lutheran Church has been added to the State Register of Historic Places, according to a statement released by the Wisconsin Historical Society.
According to Thomas Schumacher with WSAU, the church has stood on North Sixth Street in Wausau since 1953 and was added to consideration during a National Park Service-funded 2017-2018 thorough study of historical and architectural sites in Wausau.
It was the last-built example of the Late Gothic Revival style in Wausau and joins other notable locations such as The Landmark building and the Grand Theater on the registry.
