Wendy’s May be Returning to Marshfield

Friday, December 15th, 2023 -- 11:00 AM

(Jamie Rokus, Marshfield News Herald) Wendy's is eyeing Marshfield for a potential new restaurant.

According to Jamie Rokus with the Marshfield News Herald, a company spokesperson told the Marshfield News-Herald this week that it is "seeking potential franchisees who are interested in single or multi-unit opportunities, with the intention of developing new restaurants," including in the Marshfield, Wisconsin Rapids, Wausau and Stevens Point regions.

The spokesperson said the company does not have a specific location in mind or a specific timeframe for opening a future restaurant in Marshfield, but it "is actively working towards expanding its presence in Wisconsin through the Build-to-Suit development fund."

Wendy's said it is considering Marshfield for a future restaurant due to the "promising business landscape in the broader region" and its "significant unmet potential," and the company hopes to meet the needs of customers in "this thriving region."

Through its Build-to-Suit program, Wendy's will work with prospective franchisees to identify optimal locations, then the company will identify and secure the real estate, construct the restaurant, and deliver the completed restaurant to the franchisee, the spokesperson said.

“To create opportunities for all who want to grow with us, we are thrilled to offer entrepreneurs in Marshfield the opportunity to become Wendy’s franchisees through our Build-to-Suit development fund," said Brandon Rohrbach, director of global strategic development & analysis at The Wendy’s Company.

“We continue to seek new franchise owners to supercharge our growth efforts, transform markets, and unlock new potential as we bring more Wendy’s to more people across the globe.” Wendy's recently made its return to central Wisconsin.

The restaurant chain opened a new location Nov. 9 in Crossroads Commons in Plover. A Wendy's opened on U.S. 10 in Stevens Point in 1993, but in 2017, that location became a Qdoba.

Wendy's also closed locations in Marshfield in 2012 and Wisconsin Rapids in 2007. A Wendy's in Weston closed last year and recently became a Fuzzy's Taco Shop.
