Evers Vetoes Ban on Gender Affirming Care

(Bob Hague, WRN) Governor Tony Evers vetoes a ban on gender affirming care.

More than 50 LGBTQ advocates were on hand Wednesday as the Democratic governor vetoed a Republican passed bill to ban gender affirming care for transgender young people in Wisconsin. Evers told the crowd the bill was “begging for a veto.”

The legislation would have disciplined doctors in Wisconsin who provide gender affirming care to those under 18. The exact treatments can vary depending on age. Democratic legislative leaders praised Evers' veto, while Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos called it “a harmful mistake.”
