Marathon County Man Pleads for Embezzlement

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A Wausau man pled no contest to stealing from his former employer on Tuesday.

Christopher Gustafson entered the plea during a hearing on Tuesday, saying he has paid back the seventy thousand dollars he took by writing checks to himself from the business account over several months in 2021.

A judge then found him guilty and levied a five hundred dollar fine against the 49-year-old and ordered him to submit a DNA sample and pay other court costs. Gustafson was fired by the healthcare clinic in early 20-22 after they had difficulty meeting payroll, which led them to discover the missing funds.
