Wisconsin Rapids Man Apprehended Via Police Dog After Running From Police

A Wisconsin Rapids man was apprehended via police dog after running from police on Saturday.

According to the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, around 12:59am on Saturday, a Wood County K9 Unit spotted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and driving ‘all over the roadway’ on W. Grand Avenue in Wisconsin Rapids.

The Deputy tried to pull the vehicle over, but it didn’t stop right away. However, it did stop at the corner of 12th Avenue S. and Chase Street. The driver then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police chased after the suspect and attempted to take him into custody. The deputy then deployed K9 Bingo, who subdued the suspect, and police were able to arrest him. 41-year-old Aaron Winters of Wisconsin Rapids was taken to a local hospital and treated.

He was then transported to the Wood County Jail. He’s facing charges of battery to a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and OWI 3rd offense.
