Friday, December 1st, 2023 -- 11:00 AM
(Bob Hague, WRN) A new report finds Wisconsin’s K-12 teachers have steadily lost ground when it comes to pay.
Wisconsin Policy Forum research finds median teacher pay has fallen on an inflation-adjusted basis over the last decade. A Wisconsin teacher earning median pay made an inflation-adjusted $67,536 in 2009 but only $59,250 in 2023, a decrease of 12.3%, according to public school data from the state Department of Public Instruction.
One factor, a wave of teacher retirements following enactment of Act 10 in 2011.
