Annual 2023 GEEKcon Returning to UW-Eau Claire this Saturday, December 2nd

The Annual GEEKcon 2023 is happening at UW-Eau Claire on Saturday, December 2nd from 10am-4pm.

GEEKcon is dedicated to showcasing, entertaining and promoting multiple talents, hobbies, and passions. GEEKcon is part of the Communication and Journalism 351 class, more specifically Strategic Event Planning.

I spoke with Nicole Schultz, the Professor of the class. She’s taught this class for 8 years now and got involved with GEEKcon the 2nd year of its rendition and it’s been a part of the class ever since.

Nicole talked about what drew her to include this event in her class from year-to-year, how this event applies to the class, a passport that will be at this event, and more.

I spoke with Rob Mattison, one of the founders of GEEKcon and he explained how the event got started and his continued involvement with the event and the Strategic Event Planning Class.

Finally, I spoke with Ashley Denninger and Katie Kleiman-Lee. Ashley is an AA, and Academic Apprentice, and Katie is the Producer of the class and event. They discussed the theme of GEEKcon 2023, what’s happening at the event, and more.
