OEM ADDING JOBS IN NEILLSVILLE
Friday, February 29th, 2008 -- 12:08 PM
While it won't completely make up the loss of jobs that will come when Regal-Beloit closes their Neillsville facilities, the Neillsville City Council got some good economic news Tuesday night. The council approved an application seeking grant funds to help complete a new Industrial Park road.
The grant funds are contingent on OEM Fabricators retaining their current 103 jobs and adding 60 within the three year period after the new road is complete.
Mayor Diane Murphy told the Council she feels comfortable OEM is well on their way.
"There's 60 jobs that OEM is guaranteeing for this project," Murphy stated, "(OEM Ceo) Mark Tyler informed everyone that, right now they're at 103 jobs and by the end of the year they'll be up to 200."
"So, they're easily going to fill that 60 job requirement."
The city is requesting $300,000 for the project through the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation's Facilities Transportation Economic Development Assistance program (TEA).
