STATE WANTS DOMTAR UNEMPLOYMENT EXTENDED

The state is hoping unemployment benefits for Domtar workers can be extended.Domtar is closing a plant in Port Edwards this spring. 500 workers will lose their jobs.
The state is expected to file a petition this week seeking federal assistance for those workers.
Additional assistance from the U.S. Department of Labor could increase unemployment benefits from 26 weeks to 78 weeks for the majority of the displaced workers
