Monday, November 13th, 2023 -- 2:00 PM

Two men from Medford are accused of several incidents that occurred while they were illegally shining deer November 9th through the 12th of 2022 in the Owen-Withee area.
According to court records, on November 12th of last year, around 12:28am, Cody Hamm and Kyle Hoffman were contacted about shining deer after hours. Both men were already suspects in a shining and shooting incident from earlier in the week.
A bow was found in Hamm’s vehicle and he admitted to wardens that he shot multiple deer. In one case, the deer didn’t die so he told wardens that he “beat the f*** out of it with his fist.” He also admitted to hitting another deer on the road intentionally with his vehicle. Hoffman helped him move the body knowing how the animal was killed.
Hamm is charged with mistreatment of animals and two counts of illegal shining of deer or bears, as well as several related violations. Hoffman is charged with two counts of illegal shining of deer or bears as a party to a crime, as well as several related violations.
