Wisconsin Rapids Man Arrested for Hit-and-Run Resulting in Homicide

A Wisconsin Rapids man was arrested last week for a hit-and-run resulting in a homicide.

According to the Waushara County Sheriff’s Department, on October 25th, around 9:26pm, they received a call of a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 73 near County Road KK in the Town of Plainfield. Investigators were told by the passenger involved that their vehicle was struck by another vehicle and then that vehicle fled the scene.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck, 67-year-old Deborah Peterke from Hancock, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, 63-year-old Lynn Olson from Hancock, was transported to the hospital for her injuries. 60-year-old Daniel Sawyer was arrested for the incident and transported to the Waushara County Jail.
