Monday, October 30th, 2023 -- 2:01 PM
The Marshfield Common Council heard an update on a possible chicken ordinance at their recent meeting.
The Council has been discussing this for sometime. The ordinance would allow chickens on single-family lots in certain zoning districts. The City is continuing to work on certain issues that have been brought to their attention including what to do with chickens if they get loose, enforcement if the ordinance is not followed, and more. The Council had the first reading of the ordinance and it will be brought back on November 14th for a second reading.
The Council also approved health insurance contracts with Security Health Plan for benefit eligible employees for calendar year 2024; approved dental insurance contracts with Delta Dental for calendar year 2024; approved vision insurance contracts with National Vision Administration for calendar year 2024; and approved dependent care flexible spending account contract with Employee Benefits Corporation for calendar year 2024.
The Council also approved the City contribution of $600 single/$1200 family toward employee HSA accounts in calendar year 2024 and looked into a disclosure of any interest in low-power FM station.
The Council also heard an update on the relocation of the Police Station, approved a Special Council Meeting on Tuesday, November 14th, and approved the appointment of Brian Giles to the Fairground Commission.
