JENSEN PLEA HEARING SET FOR TODAY (MONDAY)

Monday, February 18th, 2008 -- 9:44 AM

Forgive Clark County's District Attorney for being cautious in his optimism that today could mark the end of the long, strange road for Wayne Jensen.

The Neillsville man accused of trying to kill his ex-wife's ex-husband with a pipe bomb appears ready to accept a plea deal, but we've been down this road before.

Wayne Jensen faces multiple charges, including attempted homicide, from an incident in July 2003 when a pipe bomb was detonated in a moving vehicle north of Neillsville. Two area residents were injured in the explosion.

Jensen has already served a prison term, but a judge ruled he breached a plea agreement, reinstating the more serious original charges.

In fact, Jensen's story has changed several times during the case.

A plea hearing has been set for this afternoon in Clark County Circuit Court.

Jensen is currently residing in the Clark County on a $20,000 cash bond.
