Wisconsin's Field Conditions for Last Week

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin farmers had 4.8 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending October 22, 2023, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.
According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, dry weather early in the week allowed for soybean and corn harvesting and winter wheat planting to continue. However, cool and wet weather slowed fieldwork later in the week.
- Topsoil moisture condition: 6% very short, 20% short, 69% adequate, 5% surplus;
- Subsoil moisture condition: 11% very short, 31% short, 57% adequate, 1% surplus;
- Corn crop: 92% mature, 24% harvested, 50% good to excellent condition;
- Soybeans: 98% dropping leaves, 69% harvested, 86% planted, 61% emerged, 65% good to excellent condition;
- Winter wheat: 86% planted, 61% emerged, 65% good to excellent condition;
- Potatoes: 95% harvested;
- Pasture condition: 30% good to excellent;
- Fall tillage: 30% complete.
