No More Independent Delivery of Gannett Newspapers in Several Central Wisconsin Communities

(Mike Leischner, WSAU) A popular first job from years gone by, is now gone in several Central Wisconsin communities.

According to Mike Leischner with WSAU, as of Monday there will be no more independent delivery of the Gannett newspapers in Wausau, Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, and Stevens Point.

Those publications are among the latest to move to postal delivery as a means of increasing efficiency while decreasing costs. Gannett says the USPS will allow those who still like getting the print edition to receive more consistent delivery times.

A statement from the publisher adds that those who don't want to wait for postal delivery can still get the electronic edition every day, which is the exact same as the print copy. Gannett has made similar moves in other markets as a way of cutting costs.
