Marathon County Sheriff’s Deputy Recognized as 85th Assembly District First Responder of the Year 2023

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department proudly announces that Deputy Galindo has been recognized as the 85th Assembly District First Responder of the Year 2023.

Assembly District 85 Representative Patrick Snyder recently presented this honor to him in Madison. Two life-saving incidents highlighted Deputy Galindo's outstanding dedication: In December 2022, Deputy Galindo and other deputies responded to a call where an individual was armed with a rifle.

After ensuring the scene was secure, he provided immediate medical attention to one of two females in distress.  The victim became unresponsive and eventually stopped breathing. Deputy Galindo began CPR as multiple doses of Narcan were administered. The female started breathing on her own and was transported to a medical facility.

In January 2023, Deputy Galindo was on a team dispatched to a disturbance. Upon arrival, they found a victim with a stab wound. Deputy Galindo's swift first aid actions, including applying a bandage and providing pressure, significantly reduced the bleeding.

Medical professionals later attested that his actions likely saved the victim's life. Deputy Galindo's exemplary service and commitment have truly made a profound impact on our community. Join us in congratulating him on this well-deserved recognition!
