Thursday, October 19th, 2023 -- 2:01 PM
During a recent Wisconsin Assembly Floor Session, Representative Donna Rozar (R-Marshfield) honored Erin Martin, a volunteer firefighter/first responder from the Chili/Fremont Fire Department as the 69th Assembly District’s First Responder of the Year.
All Assembly Representatives had the opportunity to seek nominations and award a first responder from their district. The First Responder of the Year Award is a special program in the Wisconsin State Assembly that recognizes and honors first responders who go above and beyond the call of duty in serving their community.
For 2023, Erin Martin of Chili was nominated and selected as this year’s honoree from the 69th Assembly District. Erin has over 25 years of experience with the Chili/Fremont Fire Department, achieving the rank of Lieutenant and currently serving as the President of the Department.
She has displayed remarkable skill and talent in leading the Department. To prevent citizens from bearing the expense of a new fire hall and community center, Erin secured a grant for its construction. She serves with genuine empathy during stressful calls, and provides compassionate care to those she serves.
Representative Rozar said, “From responding to emergency calls, to leading the Department with thoughtful strategic planning and vision, Erin is willing to do what is necessary to bring quality services to her community. Her leadership is exceptional and I am honored to recognize her in the Wisconsin State Assembly as the 69th Assembly District’s First Responder of the Year.”
