NEW INFO: Bomb Threat Closes Marshfield School District Early this Afternoon
Friday, October 13th, 2023 -- 3:40 PM
A bomb threat at the Marshfield High School caused an unplanned early release for students this afternoon.
According to an email from Marshfield School District Superintendent Ryan Christianson, “MHS Administration was made aware of some messages in two separate girls’ bathrooms at the high school, referencing a bomb at 1:00 p.m. While we do not believe it to be a credible threat, an early dismissal was conducted at the high school out of an abundance of caution.”
The District called the Marshfield Police Department and they are investigating the incident. However, they do not believe there is any credible threat to the buildings.
UPDATE:
From the Marshfield School District, "Regarding this afternoon’s emergency evacuation of Marshfield High School, the building has been swept and cleared by the Marshfield Police Department with the assistance of Wood County Sheriff’s Department K9 “Bingo” who is trained in explosive detection."
"The building is safe and secure to resume all programming and events. Tonight’s Varsity Football game against Hortonville will be held on the MHS campus in Heiting Stadium as originally scheduled with a 7:00 p.m. start."
"Classes will resume, as usual, on Monday morning at Marshfield High School. The Marshfield School District extends great thanks to the Marshfield PD and Wood County Sheriff’s Department for their tremendous service and support while addressing today’s incident."
