Reform aims to fade in counties beginning this fall.A major shift in how care is administered to the area's frail and elderly took another step forward this week.
Clark and Jackson counties are two of eight in the West Central Consortium for Long-Term Support and Health Care Reform. It's part of the state's Family Care initiative, which aims to streamline so-called "managed care" for Medicaid recipients.
Still in the organizational stages, the Advisory Council Wednesday made a recommendation for a 14th and final member. When approved, the advisory council will become a decision-making body.
The group also pressed forward with the hiring process for a number of key staff positions, including Executive Director.
Clark currently offers managed care services through the Community Services and Social Services departments. The transition to the regional network is slated for April 2009.
