(Wisconsin Ag Connection) Wisconsin corn and soybean stocks increased in September 2023 compared to the previous year, according to the latest National Agricultural Statistics Service grain stocks report.

According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, corn stocks totaled 73.9 million bushels, up 2 percent from 2022, while soybean stocks totaled 9.39 million bushels, up 20 percent from 2022.

The national corn stocks average was down 1 percent, while the national soybean stocks average was down 2 percent from the previous year. Of the total corn stocks in Wisconsin, 58 percent were stored on-farm.

The June-August 2023 indicated disappearance totaled 134 million bushels, 8 percent above the 125 million bushels from the same quarter the previous year. Of the total soybean stocks in Wisconsin, 47 percent were stored on-farm.

Indicated disappearance for June-August 2023 was 17.4 million bushels, 18 percent below the 21.2 million bushels from the same quarter the previous year. The increase in Wisconsin corn and soybean stocks is likely due to a number of factors, including favorable weather conditions during the growing season and strong demand for agricultural products.
