A newspaper article prompted court officials to send a jury home just before a sexual assault trial for a Marshfield man was set to begin Thursday.48-year-old James Garbsich, who was an employee at Norwood, was accused of forcing a 20-year-old female patient into a bathroom and assaulting her.
Officials worried the story, published in Thursday's editions of the Marshfield News-Herald and Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune tainted the jury pool.
Garbisch was facing up to forty years in prison, but after officials called off the trial, he pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and two misdemeanor charges of battery.
