Truth in Maple Syrup Bill Introduced

(Bob Hague, WRN) Sweet legislation introduced at the Capitol.
The Truth in Maple Syrup bill would require restaurants to distinguish between pure real maple syrup and things like breakfast syrup or maple flavored syrup. It's much like the federal Dairy Pride Act which aims to prevent the term “milk” being applied to beverages produced from things like soybeans and almonds.
Similar laws are already on the books in Wisconsin for butter and honey. The bills authors state senator Kelda Roys and Representative Dave Considine point out Wisconsin produces some 400,000 gallons of the sweet stuff valued at nearly $14 million.
