The Central Wisconsin Fall Fire Conference, hosted by Mid-State Technical College and the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department, brought together fire department and EMS personnel from 16 organizations on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Crossview Community Church in Wisconsin Rapids.
The event featured opportunities for professional growth and leadership building through networking, collaboration and presentations delivered by keynote speaker Dr. Richard Gasaway. Attendees participated in two sessions lead by Dr. Gasaway.
The sessions focused on how to use situational awareness to improve safety for emergency responders and firefighter safety through learning best practices to avoid mistakes.
“A leader is someone who leads or commands a group, organization or country,” said Todd Eckes, Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department fire chief. “As leaders in fire service, we know there is so much more to the title. By attending the Fire Conference, you have placed yourself in that category for your organization.”
According to Eckes, the third annual Central Wisconsin Fall Fire Conference will be hosted in the fall of 2024.
