Report Details Allegations Against Chippewa County Sheriff

(Bob Hague, WRN) There are new details concerning allegations against Chippewa County Sheriff Travis Hakes.

An investigative report released this week details a complaint made in May by a dispatcher who has since resigned. The complaint said Sheriff Hakes began sending her text messages via his personal cell phone just two days after she started working for the county.

According to the report, some texts are unequivocally sexual in nature. Hakes has maintained he was simply trying to make the employee feel welcome. The investigation also expanded into other areas regarding Hakes’ job performance.

The Chippewa County Board is expected to discuss the report and Hake’s status when it meets next Tuesday.
