Wisconsin House Republicans Opposed Effort to Remove Speaker McCarthy

(Raymond Neupert, WRN) Wisconsin Republicans opposed the removal of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
McCarthy was voted out as Speaker on Tuesday after far right Republicans pushed for his ouster. Ahead of the vote, 3rd District Republican Derrick Van Orden said Congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida, who was leading the effort, was out of line. “The motion to vacate the speakership is a fool's errand, and I can't think of anyone better to lead this effort than my colleague from the great state of Florida.”
Van Orden said the move orchestrated by Florida Republican Matt Gaetz would leave the House “spinning its wheels.” “We have less than 45 days to make sure that we get the final eight appropriations bills through to make sure that we can do our job as a government."
"So I didn't come to Congress so that I can watch someone else audition to be on a television show. I didn't come to Congress so someone could run a primary race to become a governor of Florida.”
Democrats did not come to McCarthy’s rescue. All of them, including Wisconsin’s Gwen Moore and Mark Pocan, voted against keeping McCarthy as Speaker.
